The Citizen of the Year Project is organised by the Brakes Trust, which is the shorter name for the Leamington FC Supporters’ Co-Operative Limited.
The Brakes Trust is a mutual society, formed in 2010 by fans of Leamington FC, “the Brakes”. The Brakes Trust is about three things: the Supporters, the Football Club and the Community. The Trust provides benefits for all three, and the Citizen of the Year project provides the vehicle for the Trust to forge stronger links into the wider community.
Peter Davis, Vice Chairman of the Brakes Trust, writes:
“The inaugural Citizen of the Year event was a statement that so many wonderful people throughout the town give their time freely to help make a difference. From the acts who gave their time, to the outstanding nominations, organisations, sponsors and those who bought tickets, all contributed to a most excellent evening of celebration and entertainment”.
