Congratulations to our 2014 winners:
Young Citizen of the Year – Mia Beresford Ruck
Joint adult Citizens of the Year – Chris Johnson and Margaret Moore

Mia touched the hearts of everyone at our Gala Awards Ceremony by telling the story of how she started making and selling loom bands in memory of her friend who had passed away. And as well as appearing on stage during the event, Mia also sold her loom bands in the foyer area of the theatre – raising a hundred pounds on the night alone!

Chris and Margaret moved the audience when they described their work at the Radford Road night shelter, leading to a unanimous decision from the independent judging panel. Their passionate dedication to the cause, coupled with their caring and non-assuming nature, was truly inspirational.

We’d like to congratulate Mia, Chris and Margaret but also all of the nominees this year. Every single person had a story to tell which in some way lifts the community and makes life better for all of us. We say sincerely – thank you.

Look out for this Friday’s edition of The Courier / Kenilworth Weekly News for a review of the Gala Awards Ceremony and we’ll have a full gallery online here next weekend.

Congratulations!
