Warwickshire Young Carers Project
The Project works with Carers from the age of 8 upwards, and aims to help improve the lives of Young Carers across Warwickshire. We support Young Carers in their caring role, give them an opportunity to relax and take a break, and help them to realise their own dreams
There are many issues Young Carers face regardless of the background they come from. Some of these include: Physical ill health, stress, worry and mental health problems; A lack of socialising, bullying and dealing with the aftermath of an overdose attempt or drinking binge. Some Young Carers protect vulnerable parents from their negative feelings at home, but cannot keep them in at school. Being a Young Carer can seriously affect a young person’s education and as such, many young carers take increasing amounts of time off school and may leave without any qualifications.
Services offered by Warwickshire Young Carers’ Project include:
- Someone to listen to one-to-one and help to access support from other agencies and providers where needed.
- Opportunities to meet other young carers, make new friends, learn new skills and have fun through regular group activities, workshops, days out and short-breaks
- Support with educational needs, helping to achieve goals, have a life of their own and succeed.
