Warwickshire Young Voices will be performing at the Gala Awards Ceremony on Friday 26 September at Warwick School. We’re delighted to have their support, and look forward to an extra special performance as they debut a new song written especially for us!

wyv2aWarwickshire Young Voices was established in 2008, with a passion to provide all youngsters access to quality music education. To date they have given over 1500 local youngsters vocal coaching and experience of professional-standard live performance.

WYV is run by a team of experienced volunteers who give their time freely to be able to pass this experience on – the team consists of two primary school teachers, two doctors and a critical care nurse!

Warwickshire Young Voices provide high quality musical activities for children from age 2 to age 16 through a range of classes, choirs and workshops. In all activities, Warwickshire Young Voices prides itself on professionalism – with performances reaching the highest standards. Their Musical Director, and resident composer, often writes music specifically for the children.

Warwickshire Young Voices are a busy group. In addition to the weekly classes and rehearsals, WYV has around 20 public performances a year – just within term time. These engagements include many prestigious events and places: Remembrance Day at The National Arboretum, Staffordshire (see below), Evensong at Birmingham Cathedral, the Inauguration of the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, the UK’s largest Arts Festival, filming for BBC ‘Songs of Praise’ and ‘Spirit of the Countryside’ for the Archbishop of Canterbury; as well as many local events.

WYV also supports a chosen charity of the year – this year the MS Society. Their previous charity work has included fundraising events for Myton Hospice, recording a CD of music especially composed for SSAFA: Forces Help, which made its way to Iraq with a serving solider.

Despite all this, Warwickshire Young Voices is not all work! They pride themselves on being a fun activity open to any local youngster who wants to be involved and to that end include many social events for the whole family including theatre trips, movie evenings and suppers together.
